MANGROVE PLANTATION
Mangroves are one of the World’s most important Ecosystems. From helping to mitigate and adapt to climate change, to protecting fisheries and coastlines around the world, mangroves are one of the world’s most vital and interconnected environments – their impact reaching far beyond where the land meets the sea. Careful study and research has revealed that mangroves are among the most important ecosystems on this planet. Valued for anchoring coastal ecosystems as well as providing economic and ecosystem services to humans, mangrove forests are true treasures. Mangroves do more proportionally than any other forest to sequester carbon – up to 5x more per hectare than tropical rainforests. This makes mangrove forests – and their restoration – one of the planet’s best and most important defenses against climate change.
Here, at the Sundarbans, almost every island are under a constant threat of river bank erosions and subsequent floods resulting from the same, especially during the times of storm surges and cyclones in this regions. The local community loses their lands, cattle and hard earned assets in the floods and due to the salinity of river waters, during the floods their agricultural lands gets ruined and fisheries are damaged which leads to a catastrophic havoc nearly every year. The foremost reason for this curse is that, the river embankments are lacking the natural defense of the Mangrove Barriers for which Erosion and Land Subsidence is
increasing. The Mangroves’ natural growth and its ecosystems are threatened due to the rampant practice of Shrimp Aquaculture, Charcoal Production and Logging, Unchecked Cattle Grazing, Lack of Awareness, etc. Hence, it urges for the protection and conservation of these Mangroves.

We encourage the preservation and onservation of existing mangroves, and restoration of mangrove ecosystems by planting new mangrove saplings in required areas. We also educate on how to restore degraded or unhealthy mangrove ecosystems, and encourage the local communities to take an active interest in the conservation of their local mangrove forests.
Why do we do this? Because healthy mangroves can provide coastal communities (particularly the poorest) with a sustainable living and reduce their vulnerability to disasters from natural events such as hurricanes and storm surges. Mangroves also provide a host of other benefits to the world at large – including sequestering and storing more carbon than any other forest type per hectare.
Now, thereof, in consideration of the foregoing premises, we are looking forward for individuals, groups, organizations and corporate who may join hands and partner with us for the Restoration & Conservation of the Mangroves and workout for a long-term solution to prevent the ongoing issues.
Kind-hearted, generous, nature-lovers like you may come forward and act to create the much needed man-nature balance and together with your support, and contributions we can achieve sustainable growth and make this world a better place to live, for the future generations
