In the heart of the Sundarbans, one of the most remote and impoverished regions of West Bengal lives a community of tribal children who are deprived of the necessities that many of us take for granted: access to education, proper nutrition, vocational training, and proper care. For these children, many of whom are orphaned or separated from their parents who are mostly migrant workers, life is a constant struggle and they are often left neglected. They are often cared for by their grandparents or distant relatives, who themselves face the daily hardships of survival in a region where resources are scarce, and opportunities are limited. The community is mainly dependent on the local forest resources and often face tiger attacks while they go into dense forests for honey collection, catching fish, crabs, etc.

In this setting, education is not just a luxury – it is a lifeline. These children, with their potential and determination, need guidance and support to break free from the cycle of poverty. However, the absence of proper Education system, daycare centers, and skill development opportunities leaves them vulnerable to exploitation, neglect, and a future of unfulfilled dreams without any motivation.
That is why the Shitalia Maa Social Welfare Society is committed to transforming their lives through the construction of a much-needed School Building, a Daycare Centre, and a Vocational Training/Skill Development Institute. This center will serve as a beacon of hope for children who have been left behind by society. It will not only provide them with a safe and nurturing environment but also equip them with the skills and education they need to build a better future for themselves and their families.
